Sample ADA Compliance Checklist
Review your website for ADA compliance by completing the following checklist. To be fully compliant, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) leveal A and AA standards must be met.

Level A Compliance
Level A items comprise basic guidelines for website accessibility:
___ Accessibility room types are available on all channels.
___ Accessibility room types have images and detailed descriptive text of ADA rooms.
___ Alt text is applied to images that convey meaningful information.
___ Captions are provided on video content with audio.
___ Video or audio-only content is accompanied by text transcript or description.
___ Links are provided to media players required to view content.
___ Headings are presented in logical order.
___ “b” and “i” tags are replaced with “strong” and “em.”
___ There are no empty links or heading tags.
___ Presentation or feedback does not rely solely on color.
___ Automatically-played audio can be stopped or is not included.
___ The keyboard can be used to navigate the site.
___ Time limits provide notifications to the user before they expire.
___ Automatically scrolling or blinking content can be stopped.
___ No strobe effects or rapidly flashing colors occur on the site.
___ “Skip navigation” functionality is provided to allow keyboard users to quickly access content.
___ Page titles clearly and succinctly describe page content.
___ Buttons and links are clearly and logically named.
___ The language of each page is identified in code.
___ Elements receiving focus do not change layout in a substantial way.
___ Invalid form input is identified to the user.
___ Forms have labels and legends that can be read by screen reader software.
___ .pdf cannot be read by screen readers or text enlargement programs. Website should have web page copy alternatives.
Level AA Compliance
Level AA is the second level necessary for full ADA compliance and is more advanced than Level A compliance:
___ Contrast ratio between text and page backgrounds is at least 4.5-to-1. Read more.
___ Text on pages can be resized to 200% while still maintaining form.
___ Text-based images are not used.
___ Pages on the site can be accessed in multiple ways.
___ Keyboard focus is visible and clear.
___ Menus and buttons are shown consistently regardless of the user’s location in the site.
___ Users are given suggestions on how to solve input errors.
___ Underlined text that does not provide a link is removed.
